Audio Jacks and Their Functions
Different Colors, Different Purposes
The various colored audio jacks found on a PC's motherboard serve distinct purposes. These colors correspond to specific audio channels and functions:
Red: Microphone Input
The red jack designated for microphone input receives audio signals from a microphone or other audio input devices.
Green: Line Out
The green jack is used for line output, such as connecting speakers or headphones. It sends audio signals from the computer to external speakers or headphones.
Blue: Line In
If your computer has a blue audio jack, it is typically used for line input. This jack receives audio signals from an external audio device, such as a CD player or turntable.
Headphones with Two Jacks
If your headphones have two separate cables or jacks, connect the red jack to the line-in port on your computer. This allows you to use the headphones as a microphone.
Other Audio Jacks
Some motherboards may have additional audio jacks with different colors and functions, such as pink (for microphone input) and black (for rear speaker output).
Always refer to your motherboard's user manual or consult online documentation to determine the specific functions of each audio jack on your system.
